Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’ve Read in 2017 So Far

Yay! It’s another round of Top Ten Tuesday! You can find out more info over here: The Broke and The Bookish Top Ten Tuesday. The page also includes future prompts for Top Ten Tuesday so you can find out what’s coming up. On the day, you can find the individual post related to that week’s prompt and link up with everyone else doing TTT. This week it’s: top ten books I’ve read so far this year. There’s just one problem: I’ve only read 14 books so this list is like 70% of my books read.

1. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I went into this book only knowing that it had gorgeous pages and that it would be an unusual way of telling a story. Some of the kinds of things it contained were e-mails, chats, interviews, surveillance footage summaries and so much more. It was an amazingly unique way to tell a story and I absolutely loved it. Like this might actually be one of my new favourite books.

2. Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

See above. This book follows some slightly different characters to the first though the overall story continues. When I first found this out, I was a bit disappointed thinking that I couldn’t possibly love these characters as much as the first. But I was soooo wrong. Like a whole other planet of wrong. This book was so good and I loved it just as much as the first and where is book number 3?? Give it to me now!

Caraval Under the Dust Jacket

3. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I went into this expecting good things and it didn’t disappoint. It just kept me guessing all the time and I could never tell who was good or who was bad so I was constantly second guessing myself. I can’t wait for the sequel and hope it keeps me guessing as much as Caraval did.

4. Sentinel by Catherine Hughes

Top Ten Tuesday: Series I’ve Been Meaning To Start But Haven’t

Top Ten Tuesday: Series I’ve Been Meaning To Start But Haven’t

I am participating in Top Ten Tuesday [at least for the next two weeks because I liked the prompts, okay?]. You can find out more info over here: The Broke and The Bookish Top Ten Tuesday The page also includes future prompts for Top Ten Tuesday so you can find out what’s coming up and on the day, you can find the individual post related to that week’s prompt and link up with everyone else doing TTT.

1. Howl’s Moving Castle / Wizard’s Castle Series – Diana Wynne Jones

I absolutely loved the Studio Ghibli adaptation of the first book and have been meaning to read the entire series for some time. It’s written by a Welsh author and is partly set in Wales and makes reference to the welsh language (or so I’m told). So 100% yes I want to read this series and can’t tell you why I haven’t yet.

2. The Lunar Chronicles – Marrissa Meyer

I love love love fairytale retellings – my favourite beauty and the beast retelling so far being Beastly by Alex Flinn. So I’ve been itching to steal these books off my mum’s shelves for a while but she won’t let me *sob* Let’s just pretend that I don’t have 100+ other books to read and that’s totally the reason why she won’t let me have them yet. Also, she hasn’t read them yet either.

3. Starflight Duology – Melissa Landers

I am shameless… I bought this duology for my mum for Mother’s Day and as soon as she has read it, I want. Somebody said once that if you loved the TV show Firefly then you would love this. I do love Firefly and so I really really want to read these books. But again, they are temporarily stuck on my mum’s shelves right now.

4. Demon Road Trilogy – Derek Landy
